Marere Intake

Marere Water Works

Mzima Intake - water diverted from the Mzima river to the pipeline.

Currently the Board has been able to partner with two main development partners to help it finance the investment plans. The projects are broadly referred to as the Water and Sanitation Services Improvemetn Projects (WaSSIP). These two development partners are: -

· The French Development Agency (AFD), 59 million US Dollars,

· The World Bank-International Development Association (IDA), 45 million US Dollars.

· Project Closing Date: 31^st December, 2012.

· Rehabilitation of the Tiwi Boreholes/Likoni pipeline

· Institutional Strengthening

· Expansion of water and sanitation services to informal settlements

Project Components:

· Rehabilitation/Extension of water and wastewater services facilities in Mombasa Municipality (including informal settlements))

· Rehabilitation and Expansion of the Marere water supply pipeline

· Rehabilitation of the Baricho Water Works

· Institutional Strengthening

GOK/AIE District Based Projects

In the financial year 2010/11the GoK district allocation amounted to Kshs201,000,000. (Two Hundred and One Million Only). This was to be used for the development and rehabilitation of water and sanitation infrastructure. Currently construction is ongoing at the District level as per the following table:
