The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March
of each year as the World Water Day by adopting a
resolution. The
World Water Day was to be observed every year with
effect from 1993, in conformity with the recommendations
of the United Nations Conference on Environment and

Rehabilitation Works on the Mzima Pipeline
The works include rehabilitation of 26km of
the Mzima pipeline with new steel pipes. This will
reduce water loss through pilferage due to the aging
pipeline and thus increase the volume of water available
for supply.
